Tropical Penguin

I am participating in a card swap this month and the theme is tropical cards.  This is what I made to send to my partner.

The card is 5 1/2"x4 1/4."  The yellow mat is 5 3/8"x4 1/8" and the wave patterned mat is cut with a Jaded Blossom die.

Both the island and the surfer penguin are from SVG Cutting Files.  I added some glossy accents to the sunglasses and some Stickles to the waves.  The sentiment is from Jaded Blossom.

I cut another yellow mat and used the same Jaded Blossom die for the wave patterned paper.  I used another Jaded Blossom die for the white mat and two of their stamps for the sentiment.

Shaped Birthday Card

I made this birthday card to send to my husband while he is deployed.

I used the Cricut to create my shaped card.

The word "happy" was cut six times and adhered together.  This gives is the same dimension you would see if I had used foam tape, but since the letters were too narrow I couldn't actually use foam tape.

I added glossy accents, glitter, and some gems to liven it up a bit.

Happy...

So, my husband deploys soon and that means he misses all our big days: Anniversary, his birthday, Christmas, Halloween, Thanksgiving, my birthday, and the birth of our son.  This has happened before, minus the birth of our son part, and I just give him one big gift before he goes.  So, I made this card to cover all the bases.

The card is 5 1/2"x4 1/4" and made of white card stock.  I used a die from Jaded Blossom to cut the white mat.  I then used stamps from Jaded Blossom to cover the mat with the days he will be missing.  I used another stamp from them for the word "happy" and fussy cut it out.  The banner and sentiment on it are from the Cricut.  I used the write function to write the word on the banner before it was cut out.

Both the sentiment and the banner were adhered with foam tape for dimension.

Sunshine

This is the final card I made to send to my husband while he is deployed.  Well, the last one for today at least.

This is a shaped card that I created using a cloud shape that I got from "Groovy Times."  I embossed with white layer with a Cuttlebug embossing folder.

The sentiment is from My Craft Spot.

The swirly cloud is from "When I Was a Kid."  The sun is from "Sesame Street Seasons."  I used a face stamp from Peachy Keen on the sun.

Space Cadet

Here is another one of the cards I made to send my husband while he is deployed.

The card is 5 1/2"x4 1/4" and made of white card stock.  I used a die from Jaded Blossom to cut a white mat.  I then embossed it with a Cuttlebug embossing folder.

All the images are from Paper Smooches.  I colored them in and adhered them to the card.  The blue/green planet and the top part of the rocket are adhered with foam tape.  The sentiment is from Scrappy Moms Stamps.

Can't Bear It

My husband will be deploying soon and will be gone for six months.  I thought I would start making some cards to send to him while he is gone.  This is one of them.

The card is 5 1/2"x4 1/4" and made of white card stock.  I used some dies from Jaded Blossom for the the yellow mat and teal circle.

The bear is a stamp from My Favorite Things and I paper pieced it.

The sentiment is also from My Favorite Things and is stamped on a banner that was cut with a die from My Craft Spot.

I used the color combo from Just Us Girls to inspire this card.

Unbelievable Creatures

Jaded Blossom just did its release last week, and it is my favorite, so I wanted to play!  I made six cards using different fantasy creatures.

The cards are 5 1/2"x4 1/4" and made of white card stock.  I used a die from Jaded Blossom to cut the patterned mats and also the embossed labels.  The labels were then embossed using a Darice Embossing folder.

I used one of the new dies from Jaded Blossom for the labels on which I stamped my sentiments.  The sentiments themselves came from Lawn Fawn.  All the fantasy creatures are from Jaded Blossom, all are from the new release except the unicorn.  I adhered the sentiment labels and images with foam tape.  I also accented the cards with Stickles, glossy accents, white gel pen, and Wink of Stella.

Doctor Who Pillows

Today has been quite the crafty day.  I have already made three cards, now I have made two pillow cases.  This is what happens when you don't work and it is raining all day I guess.

I have been working on decorating our nursery in a geeky space theme.  So far I have Star Trek curtains (my mother-in-law made those), Star Wars wall art and table lamp, and a Firefly stuffed toy.  I needed some Doctor Who, so I made these pillow cases for some 16" pillows I had on hand.

I used the envelope style pillow case, it goes together so quickly.  I used the same fabric for the back of both of them.  I think they turned out great and look perfect in the chair.  One of these days I will get the whole nursery complete and be able to show pictures of the entire thing

Father's Day Cards

These are the cards I made for my dad and my father-in-law for Father's Day.

The first card I made is in the shape of a cowboy hat.  I added some glossy accents to the accents on the hatband.  I stamped sentiment using a stamp from Scrappy Moms Stamps.  It is stamped on a tag cut from a Jaded Blossom die.  Part of the brim of the hat has foam tape under it for dimension, then the tag was slipped partially under it.

The second card I made used a bunch of Jaded Blossom dies.  The black checkered mat, the circles, and the white strip were all cut with them.  I used a stamp from Scrappy Moms Stamps for the sentiment and one from Tim Holtz for the image.  The train image is heat embossed on the circle.
